HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)-On March 18, 2011, in Honolulu's Chinatown Arts District 3,000 ceramic bowls handmade by O'ahu potters will be filled with gourmet soup made by 20 of Honolulu's top chefs to the sounds of Hawaiian music. Available one night only to benefit Hawai'i Meals on Wheels and River of Life Mission.
There is a real need for funding to help run local food organizations. Repeating our immensely successful 2009 Empty Bowl, Hawai'i Potters' Guild is organizing Empty Bowl Hawai'i 2011. HMOW delivers 400 daily meals to the homebound and ROLM serves over 15,000 meals per month at its Chinatown facility.
Sidney Lynch, President of the Hawaii Potters Guild tells us more about the event. Christine Ho also joins us on set from Hawaii Meals on Wheels. Claire Shimabukuro, the executive director of Hawaii Meals on Wheels was not able to attend.
