Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) -- The 14th ranked University of Hawai`i softball team (18-5) swept its doubleheader today at the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament. UH shut out Miami, 5-0 then overpowered South Dakota State, 9-0 in five innings. Stephanie Ricketts fired her fourth career no-hitter against the Jackrabbits.

Against Miami (Ohio) the Bows got a nice outing by Kaia Parnaby. The sophomore tossed a 4-hit shutout, striking out six in 7-innings of work, improving her record to 6-1.

Hawaii's offense can be credited with giving the Aussie plenty of room to breathe. The 'Bows jumped out to an early lead on Sharla Kliebenstein's three-run home run in the first inning. Moments later, Jenna Rodriguez drove in Jessica Iwata to give UH a 4-0 lead.

In the late game the Bows got another dominant performance by Ricketts, who struck out 6-South Dakota hitters in 5-innings of work and narrowly missing a perfect game after allowing two walks.

Offensively, Both Jenna Rodriguez and Melissa Gonzalez drove in three runs apiece. Rodriguez finished going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Gonzalez went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a sacrifice bunt.
