Oahu's boat harbor updates: Saturday, March 12th

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - We have new updates for Oahu's boat harbors that sustained significant damage in Thursday's tsunami.

According to the Department of Land and Natural Resources Director, William Aila Jr., Keehi Small Boat Harbor is going to take some time to clean up. The most pressing issue for the DLNR is to locate, identify, and mark all of the sunken vessels.

That also pertains to the two private facilities sharing the same area: La Mariana Harbors and Keehi Marine Center. For the full story on damage to Keehi early Friday morning, click on http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=14238003.

The DLNR has also now assessed damage to Haleiwa Harbor. Friday, teams removed torn pier sections that were floating out in the harbor. They also removed vessels, which were still attached to the pier. The DLNR has now relocated those boats to other places in the harbor. It looks like monetary damage is upwards of $300,000.
