I hope this email finds you well & safe. Happy Aloha Friday. Wow, it's been quite a past 24-hours, hasn't it? A massive quake off of Japan; and then a tsunami Warning then tsunami Watch for the entire state of Hawaii.
Here are some of the stories we're working on for Hawaii News Now, Friday at 5 and 5:30.
AMAZING VIDEO OF TSUNAMI SURGE
We have amazing, incredible, video of the moment water came crashing over that huge sea wall along Ali`i Drive in Kailua-Kona. A man -- alone with his video camera took these stunning shots of the raging water that tore apart the street, flooded area shops and hotel lobbies, and left debris strewn all over the place. We'll show it to you tonight at 5.
TSUNAMI DAMAGE WIDELY REPORTED ACROSS STATE
Thankfully, no one was killed or injured, but extensive damage is being reported on three islands following yesterday's tsunami. Most of what we are hearing, in terms of damage, is from the Kona coast, especially in the village of Napo`opo`o near Kealakekua Bay. Pictures sent to us really tell the story.
JAPAN REELING; SEARCHING FOR SURVIVORS
And in Japan, the grim search for survivors continues following the mega, 8.9 quake. We'll have the very latest for you tonight. We also have an exclusive interview with the Consul General of Japan here in Honolulu and his reaction to the events in his homeland.
I hope you'll join Stephanie Lum and me for these stories and more tonight on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30. See you then. Take care.
