State issues warning to boat owners

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Boaters with a boat in the water are advised to take all precautions to protect life and property and be prepared in event of a tsunami.

It is generally recommended that operational boats be either removed from the water or take it out to sea beyond the 1,000-fathom mark.

This is up to the individual boater to decide.

Anyone who cannot move their boat prior to one hour before arrival of the first wave must leave the tsunami evacuation zone and move to higher ground or vertically.
