KAHALUI, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui non-union employees take the reins.
Picketers were absent at the MECO headquarters on Maui Saturday. The strike on the island was quiet in comparison to the Picket Lines at South King Street in Honolulu on Friday night.
Just in case, Maui county officials say they started planning more then a week ago for the possibility of a strike.
On Friday, the county's spokesman, Rod Antone said all departments were instructed to test their generators and top of fuel tanks.
Maui residents have been assured that there should be no disruptions in service.
Currently non-union employees are in control of the electric system.
