HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Heavy rains and powerful winds ripped through the Ewa and Kapolei around 2 o'clock Friday morning and this what the result.
Roaring winds pulled down power lines and trees in the Kapolei area forcing road closures along Fort Barrette Road and Kamokila Boulevard.
In Ewa Beach mother nature showed her furry along Fort Weaver Road heading into Ewa Beach where 15 telephone phone poles came crashing down, shutting down traffic and cutting down power.
HECO officials say 13,000 customers on Oahu were affected by the severe weather and power outages.
In Ewa Beach some residents say they have power, while others don't.
But still, they have to prepare for the possibility that it could days to fix the problem.
Schools in damaged areas were closed today as parents struggled to get into work.
And the damage was clearly visible down Renton Road.
