STRIKE: HECO's phone message to customers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Electric's customer service line holds the following message:

Aloha and thank you for calling Hawaiian Electric.

Please be aware that starting today Hawaiian Electric's union employees are on strike.

Due to the current strike we regret that some services have been modified.

Our call center is closed for the day and will reopen on Monday, March 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As of today walk-in customer service will be temporarily halted and drop boxes will be closed at all of our offices. Payments can be mailed in as usual or you can pay in person at various locations including any Foodland, Sack N Save, Walmart or First Hawaiian Bank sites.

You can also go to our website, www.heco.com, and sign up for our convenient e-bill service to pay your bill electronically.

To minimize the wait an inconvenience to you there is no need to report payments that you've already made or plan to make within the next two weeks.

We are making every effort to ensure you continued, reliable electric service during this time however in the event of an outage it is possible that repair time will longer than normal.

We ask for your patience as repairs are made as quickly as possible while ensuring that the safety of the public and our employees. on behalf of all our employees we thank you for your patience and understanding. we look forward to resuming normal operations soon.
