Flash Flood Warning for Kauai

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for the island of Kauai. The warning will be in effect until 6:45pm but may be extended if necessary.

At 3:30pm a gauge on Hanalei River showed a rapid rise in water level to exceed 7 feet. This may force the closing of Kuhio Highway at the Hanalei Bridge within the next hour.

The locations most impacted include but are not limited to Hanalei, Princeville and Haena.

A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads and low-lying areas. Move to higher ground now.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot. Turn around don't drown.
