Kauai (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 63-year-old Klauea man remains in critical condition at Wilcox Hospital following a two-car collision Thursday night on Kuhio Highway, at the north end of Kalihiwai Bridge.
The man was driving a black Nissan pickup when he apparently crossed the center line at approximately 7:30 p.m. while headed south, causing him to collide head-on with an oncoming Ford van.
The van was driven by a 42-year-old Hanalei man.
Medics transported both drivers to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the van was treated and released.
Neither vehicle had passengers.
The collision caused Kalihiwai Bridge to be closed for roughly four hours. It was reopened at about 11:20 p.m. last night.
Police continue their investigation of the incident.
