HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Andy South made it work on the hit show "Project Runway" and as a finalist, showed his creations at New York Fashion Week. Now the fashion designer has his own line called SOUTH by Andy South which will be unveiled to the public tonight at Neiman Marcus in Ala Moana Center.
Fashion Rules is a celebration of the spring 2011 season and the art of fashion. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with NM Edits: Spring 2011, a fashion presentation showcasing the best of spring fashions on the retailer's second level. At 7 p.m. the public will be treated to the very first view of SOUTH by Andy South during a fashion presentation commentated by the local designer himself. The Fall/Winter 2011 Collection is South's debut collection since becoming a finalist on Project Runway Season 8 and will be carried at Neiman Marcus Honolulu this fall. After the show, attendees will be able to meet South during his personal appearance from 7:30–8:30 p.m. in the contemporary sportswear section.
'Empty Bowl Hawaii'
View the launch of the Signature Bowl Exhibit and Silent Auction – a collection of 20 bowl-inspired works of art by some of Hawaii's top artists including Yvonne Cheng, Ron Kent and Esther Shimazu. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit Empty Bowl Hawaii 2011, a benefit event to help fight hunger in Hawaii. Empty Bowl Hawaii 2011 culminates with an event on Friday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. on Pauahi St. in Chinatown, where they will feature 3,000 handmade bowls, available for purchase with a $20 donation which includes a bowl soup from 20 of Honolulu's top restaurants including NM Honolulu's very own Mariposa. Proceeds benefit Hawaii Meals on Wheels and River of Life Mission. The Signature Bowl Exhibit and Silent Auction will be on display on the retailer's third level from March 3–14.
