Bows' rally comes up short

Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow)  – The "Rally Gods" didn't favor the UH baseball team Sunday as the Bows (3-4) fell to Texas 4-3.

Hawaii trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning when Piikea Kitamura tagged a two-run homer over the left field wall to pull UH within 4-2. The homerun was UH's first of the season.

In the 9th, Van Doornum came through with a single RBI that scored Zack Swasey to cut the lead to one run.

The game ended on a line drive double play by Conner George to Longhorn pitcher Keifer Nuncio. Nuncio doubled up Jeff Van Doornum at first base to end the game.

Up next, UH hits the road for the first time this season with a four-game series at Loyola Marymount on Thursday, March 3. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 Pacific Time.
