No strike, at least not yet, against Hawaiian Electric

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Talks are scheduled to resume Monday between Hawaiian Electric Company and the union representing electrical workers on four islands.

The IBEW said Saturday that there would be no strike this weekend against HECO. Union members authorized a strike last week Friday after they voted against ratifying a new contract.

If union members walk off the job, HECO said service will not be interrupted.

Some of the issues that still need to be resolved include retroactive pay, post-retirement medical plans, and wage compensation to make up for a reduction in electricity discounts.
