Magnitude 3.6 earthquake hits Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Several people across Oahu  - from an electrician standing on a ladder in Hawaii Kai to staff at Kailua High School to a resident in the Foster Gardens apartment building downtown - felt a minor earthquake occurred at 2:12 p.m. Thursday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 3.6 quake was centered southeast of Oahu, about 22 miles east-southeast of Honolulu and 23 miles southeast of Kaneohe. It occurred nearly 12 miles below the earthʻs surface.

No tsunami was generated.
