UH Softball takes down Long Beach State

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (HawaiiNewsNow) - The 9th ranked University of Hawaii softball team (7-0) defeated Long Beach State (4-1), 10-4 to complete Friday's doubleheader sweep at the Louisville-Slugger Desert Classic.

Jessica Iwata, Alex Aguirre, and Sharla Kliebenstein each hit homeruns as Kaia Parnaby (3-0) gave up four runs on nine hits with three walks and seven strike outs.

Earlier in the day UH defeated Utah 8-7 behind back to back homeruns by Iwata and Aguirre in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Hawai`i is off to its best start in school history (against DI competition) at 7-0.

UH is scheduled for another double header Saturday against Oregon at 9:00 a.m. and Stanford at 1:30 p.m.
