HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)- VEX Robotics Competition Invitational Tournament at Pearlridge Center. Sponsored by the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies (HCES) and Pearlridge Center with the McKinley High School Robotics Program, 18 teams of middle and high-school students will compete in this invitational as part of the 2011 Engineers Week in Hawaii celebration. Tournament seeding-round matches begin at 9:45 a.m. with final double-elimination matches at 1:30 p.m. The Radford High School Robotics Program will host a BrushBot workshop table so our Pearlridge families can create their own toothbrush robots – and even compete in a BrushBot tournament at 12:45 p.m. Up to four winning teams (Team Excellence Award recipient and three teams in the championship alliance) will qualify to compete in the 200-team 2011 VEX Robotics World Championship, which will be held in Florida in April. Sunday, Feb. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Uptown Center Court.
