HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The city Board of Water Supply says their crews have completed repairs to the broken 24-inch water main near on Farrington Highway near Honokai Hale and water service will be restored to affected customers late Wednesday afternoon.
The 24-inch water main, which brings approximately 60 percent of the water to the Leeward Coast, broke Tuesday and is expected to return to service when full pressure to the pipe is restored by about 6 p.m., according to a water supply spokesman.
Until then, residents from Honokai Hale to Makaha are asked to continue to use water sparingly and for priority needs including cooking, drinking and personal hygiene only.
The right, eastbound lane on Farrington Highway will remain closed until repair crews have filled the hole and repaired the roadway.
Repair work is expected to continue overnight and be completed before Thursday morning rush hour traffic.
