Two Hawaii stores to close under Borders bankruptcy

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Bookseller Borders has filed for bankruptcy protection. The company has struggled to keep up with changes in the market as more people look to online retailers.

The once popular bookstore will close 30 percent, or about 200, of its stores over the next few weeks. Two Hawaii stores will close, according to a list released by the company.

  • Kailua-Kona: Crossroads Center, 75-1000 Henry St.
  • Lihue: K-mart Kukui Center, 4303 Nawiliwili Rd.

No Oahu locations will be affected.
