Minor earthquake hits the Big Island

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - A minor earthquake shook the Big Island at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

The quake registered a magnitude 3.0 and occurred about 2 miles south of the Kilauea summit.

The center of the quake was about 2 miles below the surface.
