New Kidney Foundation location opens in Hilo

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - On the Big Island, the battle against chronic kidney disease took a big step forward.

The National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii recently blessed its new office in Hilo.

Residents are now able to get screened for kidney disease, drop off used clothing, donate cars, and receive information on this deadly illness.

One out of every seven people in Hawaii is stricken with kidney disease.

That's compared to the national average of one in nine.
