U.S. air fares rise again

ACROSS THE NATION (HawaiiNewsNow) - A third round of air fare increases since 2011 began appears to have caught on with the nation's major airlines.

American Airlines started the newest round with increases from $4 to $10 depending on the route, and it was quickly matched by United Continental.

Later this week it has also been matched by Delta, US Airways, JetBlue, Alaska, Air Canada and the Canadian discount carrier WestJet.

FareCompare.com reports Southwest has matched on only one in 10 routes.
