High surf advisory for north, west shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A high surf advisory remains in effect for north and west facing shores of Kauai and Niihau and along north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui until 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Surf will be near 15 feet and heights will peak late Wednesday and then gradually subside.

Large breaking waves will increase the potential for strong rip currents. The surf and rip currents will be powerful enough to overpower even strong swimmers.
