Army responding to public concerns about training on Big Island

MAUNA KEA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Army representatives are responding to public concerns about aviation training on the Big Island.

An Army environmental assessment showed helicopter flight paths from Pohakuloa to Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

The Army posted the plans for public comment this week. Residents are worried about too much helicopter noise and training disrupting the community.

The Army plans to review public feedback and make changes as necessary.

Just two weeks ago, the Army decided to stop live-fire training at Makua Valley in Waianae because of community concern.
