HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)- Join 1980's teen pop-sensations Debbie Gibson and Tiffany to talk about their new SyFy Saturday Original Movie, "Mega Python Vs Gatoroid." The movie, which premieres on January 29 at 9 pm (ET/PT), takes a twist on the actual biological crisis in the Florida Everglades where invasive Burmese pythons are threatening many species, including the indigenous alligator population. The interaction between these two femme pop-icons combine into a great morning-show friendly interview that will be sure to capture viewer interest.
Gibson portrays a fanatical animal rights activist who steals imported exotic snakes from pet stores, then "liberates" them into the ecosystem of the Everglades where they flourish. Tiffany plays an over-zealous park ranger worried about the growing epidemic and effects on her beloved alligator population, so she employs dubious methods, dosing them with steroids so they grow to mega proportions. This sets off a war of the species and puts her on a direct collision course with Gibson.
The director of "Mega Python Vs Gatoroid" Mary Lambert, who has won much acclaim for directing Pet Sematary and others, is the first woman to direct a SyFy Saturday Original Movie. The writer is Naomi Selfman ("Evil Eyes"). There is also a cameo where Micky Dolenz plays himself.
In their most recent SyFy roles, Gibson starred in "Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus" and Tiffany starred in "Mega Piranha." Combining this timely topic with these sassy pop-princesses will create a relevant and energized interview.
