Man in court to answer charges of sexual contact on flight

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An Illinois man is expect to appear in Federal Court Thursday to answer charges that he groped a woman sitting next him on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu Jan. 11.

The FBI has filed a criminal complaint against Benjamin David Beyer, 30, for allegedly having "unwanted sexual contact with a passenger" causing a disruption on a Delta Airlines flight to Honolulu.

The victim is the wife of a deployed soldier and was traveling with her young daughter.

According to the complaint, Beyer was arrested by the FBI after the flight and released pending further investigation.

The complaint alleges that Beyer had been drinking before and during the flight and put his hand on the victim's thigh several times. Beyer was moved to another seat by the flight attendant.

Beyer was arrested again Jan. 19 on the Big Island and is scheduled to appear before judge Barry Kurren.
