Fire destroys Wahiawa home

WAHIAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Fire destroyed a home in Wahiawa at about 8:35 p.m. Tuesday and six people home at the time escaped without injury.

The home, on Eames St., a single-story wooden structure, was heavily damaged, according to fire department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

Fire was under control five minutes after firefighters arrived, but an estimated $270,000 damage was caused.

The family is being assisted by Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is accidental from an electrical malfunction in circuit breaker panel in the kitchen, according to Seelig.
