Man critical after hit and run on Nimitz

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) A 29-year old man is fighting for his life Wednesday after being hit by a car while crossing Nimitz Highway near Sumner Street.

According to police, the victim was in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and the driver fled without stopping. The victim was tossed about 20 feet in the air and landed on his back.

One witness told police the vehicle may have been a black Ford.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
