HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The ASICS Rainbow Volleyball Club is inviting Hawaii's best high school girl volleyball players to show off their skills this Saturday.
The goal is to impress scouts from universities around the country that have flown into town for the event.
Organizers say it's hard for a lot of our local players to get exposure since we're so far away the mainland. This event gives them that chance without having to leave the islands.
Many of the girls who will be participating this Saturday have already begun practicing together.
"It's beneficial for me because all the college coaches are coming down here to Hawaii and we don't have to pay that expensive airplane trip," said Kaena Kaina from Word of Life. "It's great for the mainland coaches to come here so that we have the opportunity to show our talent and hopefully get a scholarship from these coaches."
"We'll be with local girls, we'll be with each other and it'll be more comfortable than mainland combines," said Krysta Freitas from Hanalani Schools.
If you're interested, the combine will be held this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Manoa Valley District Park gymnasium.
The cost is $175. However, there are only 15 spots remaining! So if you want to participate, you need to hurry and sign up.
