Heavy rains and flooding around the island are keeping emergency crews busy.
Tonight, the Leeward coast experienced the majority of weather related problems. Puhawai Road near Lualualei Homestead Road was closed around 7 p.m. due to heavy waters. The Hawaii Fire Department says a vehicle and three pedestrians got stuck in raging floodwaters.
Meantime, fire crews are working to free a family who's stuck inside their Waianae home because of flooding.
Additionally, police officers are out and about in Maili directing traffic, because of the hazardous conditions, and school officials in Maili told us that Maili Bible School will be closed Thursday because of flooding.
Furthermore, Hawaiian Electric Company says they've seen seven major power outages throughout the day today, but have restored all power as of 10:00 p.m.
As of tonight, all public schools remain open for Thursday.
