Farrington Hwy. blocked near Aloun Farms

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police have shut down a portion of Farrington Highway due to a downed telephone pole and power lines.

Farrington Highway is closed in the west-bound direction and being contra-flowed in the east-bound direction near Aloun Farms and Kahi Mohala.

The downed pole was first reported at around 5:30 a.m. with sparking wires on the road. 

Crews from Hawaiian Electric and Hawaiian Telcom are responding.

HECO confirms an initial power outage, although crews have managed to restore power to all but 100 homes and businesses in the area.

Traffic is extremely slow-going at this time.
