Manoa, HI – The rain in Manoa prevented the Rainbow Wahine softball team from taking part in their first practice of the year, but there was a silver lining, slugger Kelly Majam says she's ready to return to the bows after undergoing radiation treatment during the winter break.
"They didn't find anything out of the ordinary" said Majam. "I'm feeling good…other than that they said I'll have to come back in a year, next Christmas for a full body scan to see if there's any detections of cancer anywhere else in my body. But other than that I'm good to go.
Head Coach Bob Coolen says despite Majam's eagerness to return to the field, he'll treat her like any other player returning from injury, by monitoring her progress and easing her back into the team drills.
"We're just going to have to wait and see where she goes from here. Because I can't put any expectations on her. She just needs to do what she does and we'll see where the chips fall."
