Paddles stolen from Roosevelt's Ala Wai shed

Team's paddles stolen. Team's paddles stolen.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A high school paddling team is feeling the sting of a holiday grinch.

Roosevelt High School coaches returned after Christmas to find out someone had broken into their storage shed near the Ala Wai.

It happened on Christmas Eve and the thief made off with their wooden practice paddles, 14 in all.

"When we told the students the blades were stolen, they of course couldn't believe it. They felt invaded I guess, and disappointed," said Joy Waikoloa, paddling coach. "Disappointed that someone would take something that for them was very valuable."

Some of the paddles have these "RS" on them for Roosevelt.

They're urging that the paddles be returned no questions asked and they've filed a police report but so far no leads.

If you have any information, call police.
