HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One man was critically injured during a electrical fire near the old Hard Rock Cafe on Kapiolani Boulevard at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The power outage forced the shut down of Kapiolani Boulevard from Kakakaua Avenue to Pumehana Street and effected about 450 customers in the McCully/Kapiolani area, according to Hawaii Electric Company.

Emergency personnel say a man was critically burned when an electrical fuse exploded and caused a transformer fire.

Paramedics took the victim to the burn unit at Straub Clinic and Hospital.
