HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Paramedics on Oahu responded to three times their normal number of calls on New Year's Eve Friday night. Among them were five burn victims.
One person reportedly was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a firework blew up in his hands. Three other people, including two children, were burned by aerial fireworks, while a jumping jack firework burned another victim's hand.
Meanwhile, Honolulu police gave out multiple fireworks related citations and warnings, and made two arrests for fireworks violations. Officers arrested a man in Waikiki and a woman at Ala Moana Park on petty misdemeanor charges.
