HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Judging by the empty shelves at Don Quijote Friday, it's sure to be a smoky New Year's Eve.
Many customers were snatching up last minute fireworks purchases, some by the box loads.
Store management says it brought it extra supply this year, but by the looks of things, it may not have been enough.
"So far it's not that bad on the last day. You're lucky the shelves are empty. Whatever's there, you're lucky to find something," shopper Raymond Low said.
Across town at a fireworks stand, a steady stream of customers were browsing what was left.
Some shoppers were waiting in line even before the shop opened.
