HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Legislative aide and Tea Party activist Tom Berg won the special election to fill the vacant Honolulu City Council District 1 seat.
Berg, 46, will serve the remaining two years of former Council Chairman Todd Apo's term. Apo left in November to take an executive position at Disney's Aulani Resort at Ko Olina.
Berg is the administrative services manager for state Rep. Kymberly Pine, R-District 43, the House minority floor leader.
He has worked at the State Capitol since 2000.
Berg received 2,326 votes, or 18.52 percent of the ballots cast. Here is more with Councilman Berg.
