KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Aloha Chapter of the Marine Corps League will again host local comedian Bo Irvine and Friends in a New Year's Eve gala comedy event and auction at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.
This public event includes a silent auction, the comedy show, and then Irvine will host a live auction to include artwork from Gary Reed, local golf outings, Waikiki hotel packages and much more.
Irvine, known as the "Hawaiian King of Stand Up," has entertained civilians and service members with his comedic routines and regularly performs at Waikiki hotels, including the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.
Events begin at 8 p.m. at the Fairways Ballroom and Lanai at the Kaneohe Klipper Club and include dining on prime rib, garlic shrimp, kalua pig sliders and other heavy pupus. The night will conclude with a New Year's countdown and dancing.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Aloha Chapter's scholarship fund. Scholarships will be awarded prior to the end of this school year to deserving high school seniors enrolled in Navy or Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs on island, as well as children of active duty Marines and sailors stationed on Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Last year's event raised $16,000 to provide for eight of the 10 scholarships awarded and this year's event is expected to double that amount.
