HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A young man who pleaded guilty to shooting another man during a drug dispute received his punishment Wednesday.

Under an agreement with prosecutors, Tariq Holloway was sentenced to two years in jail for attempted manslaughter and robbery.

Zachariah Eisenberg was shot twice while he was in his car in Moiliili in May 2009. He says the fight was over some marijuana.

After the court hearing, the victim described the sentence as too light considering he was nearly killed.

"I don't feel like it was really justice served in any way, shape or form," Eisenberg said. "It seems kind of like barely a slap of the wrist for letting a criminal back on the street because they can't, because he's a good liar."

Prosecutors cut a deal with Holloway and reduced the charges against him.

"We were not confident that we would be able to prove the attempted murder beyond a reasonable doubt," Kristine Yoo, deputy prosecutor, said.
