HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)-"CATS," the show that revolutionized musical theatre, is coming to Honolulu! In just a few weeks, Broadway in Hawaii presents the national touring production of "CATS" at the Neil S. Blaisdell Concert Hall. The only production in North America sanctioned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, "CATS" opens on Tuesday, December 28 and runs for just eight performances, closing Sunday, January 2.
Called "One of the most imaginative and eye-pleasing musicals of the century" by The Los Angeles Times and "playful, eye popping, heart-stopping entertainment on a grand scale" by The Washington Post, "CATS" at the Blaisdell is the "purrfect" way to introduce your family to the wonders of live theater. What began as a musical about cats after Andrew Lloyd Webber picked up a book of poems - T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" – in an airport bookshop has become one of the longest running shows in Broadway's history. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, "CATS" features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber's timeless melodies, including the hit song, "Memory."
