First family visits Hanauma Bay

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - President Barack Obama, his family and some friends are snorkeling at Hanauma Bay Tuesday, a favorite destination for the first family during their Hawaiian vacations.

The president's motorcade arrived at t he nature preserve late Tuesday morning. The area is closed to the public on Tuesdays, giving the president's party a chance to enjoy the bay in private.

The Obamas spent time at Hanauma Bay last Christmas.

Earlier in the day, the president made his daily trip to the gym at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

He's been to the gym almost every morning since he arrived last week. He's also taken his children bowling, been golfing and attended church on the Marine base.

Obama has repeatedly used the base during his year-end holiday on the island where he was born and lived for 14 of the first 18 years of his life.
