Flood Advisory for Windward Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Heavy rain for parts of Oahu has prompted the National Weather Service office in Honolulu to issue a Flood Advisory for parts of the island until 7:45 p.m. Friday.

Radar at 4:44 p.m.. showed an area of heavy rain over Windward Oahu from Kailua to Kahuku. The area was nearly stationary.

Forecasters said other locations in the advisory included, but were not limited to:

  • Punaluu
  • Turtle Bay
  • Waiahole
  • Waikane
  • Pupukea
  • Laie
  • Kahuku
  • Kahaluu
  • Kaaawa
  • Hauula

The flood advisory means people should avoid streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying areas prone to flooding. The rain may also cause hazardous driving conditions.

    Rescue and recovery efforts continued through the night into the morning in Italy following the collapse of a highway bridge in Genoa, while authorities raised the death toll to 35 with three missing.
