HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -A foot long sea snake was found in the waters near Keehi Lagoon Tuesday, according to environmentalist Carroll Cox.

Cox said Waikiki Aquarium biologist Norton T. M. Chang told him only three of these type of sea snakes have been found in the last decade.

These snakes are highly venomous and should not be touched, Cox said.

The yellow bellied sea snake was injured and taken by state officials, he said.
