HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gov. Neil Abercrombie has nominated David Louie for Hawaii's next attorney general.
Louie has served as a trial lawyer for the past 33 years.
He's been named one of the best lawyers in America and a Hawaii super lawyer.
The 59 year old also led the Hawaii State Bar Association.
Louie is planning to finish up at his practice and then head into his next role.
"This is an enormous challenge and I like challenges. I like solving problems. That's what I do as a lawyer. The biggest priority I think really is help the governor, help the legislature and help the people of the state," Louie said.
"I think it's really great. I'm really proud of him and I think it's a great opportunity for him to do some real good for Hawaii," David Louie's son, Ryan Louie said.
Before he can take the post, the state Senate must confirm Louie's appointment.
