HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Waikiki Health Center received a $16,500 grant from the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Public Health Fund.
The money will be used for purchasing new equipment for a Minor Surgical Procedure Room for its Ohua Clinic.
About 75 percent of the Center's patients are seen at its Waikiki facility, many of which need minor surgeries that do not require anesthesia or respiratory assistance.
The Center plans to convert an existing exam room as its Ohua Clinic to expand its services to meet patient needs.
"This initiative will provide an additional access point for the community to receive minor surgical procedures," the agency's executive director Sheila Beckham, RD, MPH said. "It also will improve health outcomes by serving our patients quickly and conveniently on-site."
