Indonesia's Safari Park welcomed a newborn female hippo calf, Yuni and showed her off to the public for the first time earlier this morning. Her mother, 15 year old Slamet gave birth to the calf while underwater after being pregnant for 7 months. Yuni has been separated from other adult hippos and placed in the same enclosure with her mother to protect the calf from attacks from the older hippos. The hippopotamus is native to Africa and is considered one of the most aggressive animals in the world.
