BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Out of state visitors who want to enter Akaka Falls State Park near Hilo must now pay an admission fee.

Walk-ins will be charged one dollar to park a car. The total fee is five bucks.

Akaka Falls is joining seven other state parks in charging the non-resident fees.

The state says the money will help keep the parks up and running.
