HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro has been named spokesman for Farmers Insurance.
Starting in January 2011, Shimabukuro will appear in the company's advertisements, social media campaigns, and as part of its numerous community service initiatives.
"We are excited to bring Jake on board as our official spokesperson for 2011," said Michele Saito, president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii. "He is a celebrated icon in Hawaii, and he represents and personalizes the Farmers Insurance Hawaii brand values."
The 34 year old virtuoso, known for his innovative style and technical precision on the ukulele, will also write custom promotional tracks including putting his own island-spin on the Farmers' national jingle.
"I am honored to be working with Farmers Hawaii," said Shimabukuro. "They are 100 percent locally run - and the Farmers' team of people are some of the most caring and down-to-earth people I've ever worked with."
