MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine's soccer program has been around for 17 years and on Wednesday it introduced just its second head coach.
A name very familiar with soccer fans in Hawaii...
Michele Nagamine has spent the last three seasons on the sideline's of HPU and has a reputation of turning programs around.
The Sea Warriors had won three games before Nagamine's arrival.
She turned them into a conference contender by her second year.
UH hopes she can find similar success.
The Rainbows finished 3-14 last year and missed the WAC playoffs under previous coach Pinsoom Tenzing.
"Now after 20 years I feel I have the knowledge and the information and the contact base to build a team around Hawaii's players. We will focus our primary recruiting efforts to get the top players in the state to play at home. To build a team that we can be proud of and make an impact in our community here and then both on a regional and national level," Nagamine said.
