Lava Tree State Park re-opens on Big Island

PAHOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A unique park on the Big Island is once again open to the public.

Upgrades to the Lava Tree State Monument have kept it closed since September.

The park features a forest of trees that turned into lava molds from a flow hundreds of years ago.

State crews recently finished reconstructing the park's entry road and parking lot.

More upgrades are also in the works.
