BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kealakehe High School went into lockdown Tuesday morning after security discovered a trespasser with a weapon on campus.
A Big Island law enforcement official says campus security confronted a 21-year-old male who was carrying a pocket knife.
According to Department of Education spokesperson Sandy Goya, campus security spotted the male away from the classrooms, but decided to go into lockdown since classes were about to end.
Police arrived to the school and took the male in custody.
No threats, injuries or physical violence was reported.
The school is planning to send a letter home today to explain the incident to parents.
